Accreditations
I’m a fully-registered Practitioner (FEDIPPract) with the Association of Professional Healthcare Analysts and their parent body the Federation of Data Informatics Professionals. This means that my skills have been formally assessed by a regulated body and my competency validated, and my commitment to professional standards shown and internalised. I follow these standards to ensure my practice is safe and accountable.
These aren’t just nice business words; honesty and trust are at the core of what we do as data scientists. I work hard to make my analyses accurately and fully reflect the customer’s data. If a mistake happens, I own it and work to build both a solution and procedural safeguard to make sure the same mistake never happens twice. I continually build my skills to stay ahead of the curve on the latest techniques and technologies in our space, both inside work and taking the next step outside work to prepare for the future.

I work in Advanced Analytics, a small team that takes data and problems from all over the Trust and applies our knowledge to see what happened, what is happening, and what comes next. We provide a technical service that serves staff who are highly skilled in their own fields and care about clear answers as much as the methods used to get there.
TriRx Pharmaceutical Services
Data Scientist
2021 to 2023
This site was owned by Elanco (an offshoot of Eli Lilly) for the first half of my time working there. My employment carried over when TriRx bought the facility.
I worked on data optimising and analysing pharmaceutical processes used to make the wide number of veterinary products they make. My background in biosciences came in handy here! I also trained other staff on Excel.
Liverpool Clinical Laboratories
Associate Practitioner (Fixed-term)
2021
Fixed-term contract. LCL runs under the auspices of Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. I was a contract worker for LCL brought in to set up, operate, and train undergraduates to work in the heavily automated high-throughput COVID testing facility that existed at the time. When that facility closed due to changing government priorities, I was transferred to another lab at the Royal Liverpool site to run and train undergrads on COVID testing by hand using LAMP.

R&D Scientist
2020 to 2021
Fixed-term contract. In a previous life, I was a laboratory research scientist in the biomedical field. At Mast, I was working on R&D for a now widely-deployed series of urinalysis machines.
CSL Seqirus
Vaccine Manufacturing Technician
2019 to 2020
Seasonal work. I worked on the factory floor at the facility that makes the flu jab for over 65s across most of the NHS. Later on this became invaluable in knowing how data was generated – right at the source!
Queen Mary University of London
Research Candidate
2016 to 2017
This was the first year of a PhD attempt in bioengineering – due to personal circumstances at the time that meant I had to leave London, this sadly didn’t work out. However, the scientific experience and methodology I learned in my time there was worth its weight in gold, and has led me even after moving over to data. I also got my name on a publication while I was there, which is below.

I worked as an agency contractor early in my career, so there’s other things in there that aren’t overly relevant to data science and were for short periods, between jobs, and just various odds and ends. Of those, I’d like to highlight working as a Read Coder at a GP surgery which is where I first put data analysis to use!
